For the stable connection of hoses.
Hoses, angles of tubes or flanges sometimes don't fit exactly onto the intended connectors for example at the carbon filter or the fan-box. To tighten these contacts you can insert a plug connector in between.
To seal these connections you take a duct tape or a hose clamp.
