Plants need good soil, moisture and light. You can measure with this combined tester (combi-tester) whether your plants are getting sufficient water and light and whether the soil is suitable for each particular kind of plant.
* To determine the soil moisture: Switch setting "MOIST"
Insert the two probes into the soil between the edge and the centre of the pot to a depth of up to about 3/4 of the probe length. This combi-tester can be used with plant pots up to 35cm high. Take the reading on the centre scale and compare it with the optimum moisture level specified for your plant in the table on the back of the packing.
* Light measurement: Switch setting "LIGHT"
Hold the combi-tester with the photoelectric sensor directly facing the light source to which the plant is normally exposed. Take the reading on the upper scale. The two numbers in the table on the back of the packing specify the minimum and the maximum illumination intensity required by the plant.
* Determining the soil acidity: Switch setting "PH"
Insert the two probes of the combi-tester into compact wet soil. Take the pH reading on the bottom scale after waiting for 1 minute. A reading of 8 corresponds to alkaline soil and a reading of 3.5 corresponds to acidic soil.
